Stacy: Portsmouth tutor
Certified Tutor
Welcome to my world of mathematics. I am a graduate of BYU with a Bachelors's in Psychology. I worked in that field for about 10 months and discover that I love to help people, especially young people, but did not enjoy the paperwork and strange hours. So I went back to school and received my Bachelor's in Mathematics Education from the University of Montana - Western and then my Master's in Mathematics Education from BYU.
I adore teaching math and helping students find value in what they are learning. I have 11 years of experience teaching 6th-grade math up to AP Calculus AB. I also have 3.5 years of experience teaching remedial math courses at a community college, as well as College Algebra and Trigonometry.
I decided to become a tutor because my favorite part of teaching is the one-on-one interaction with my students. Currently, I am working towards certification in tutoring students with Dyscalculia (math learning disability). I have a niece with a severe math learning disability and she is my inspiration.
To help you know me better, I always tell my students that if I couldn't teach math, I would love to teach a class on pop culture and sports. For this reason, I often relate math problems to these areas.
I look forward to meeting with you and helping you enjoy the world of math, and if not enjoy, at least walk comfortably through it :D.

Outside of teaching, many of my interests are found outdoors. I love to walk and hike. Being from Montana, we have beautiful mountains and trails to walk and bike. I love to camp with my family and go fishing. I am absolutely passionate about amusement parks and often relate my math to rides. I love spending time with my family and helping others.
