I believe that writing is vital to empowerment and expression. Everyone has a voice and learning how to utilize that voice to communicate your ideas is just as useful outside the classroom as it is inside. I've seen the positive effects of writing, and they inspire me to continue teaching. My approach to helping students utilize their voice begins with an understanding of the context in which they're learning: what is the class's content? What are the assignment's expectations? Where are the strengths? Where are the weaknesses? How can we leverage the strengths to compensate for the weaknesses? And, maybe most importantly, what's the student's learning style? As for me, I received a Bachelor of Science in Writing from Grand Valley State University in 2018. I enjoy reading, writing, and playing video games in my free time.
