I really never thought I would become an instructor. I was too shy. However, a requirement for my master's degree in mathematics at Florida Atlantic University was teaching a college algebra class. After teaching only one class, I changed my mind. Seeing the way students responded to me, how quickly they understood what I was teaching, and how many thanked me for the lesson, was all I needed. I went on to earn a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.
Nothing is more valuable than seeing a student experience that moment when they understand. These are the most fulfilling experiences of my life.

I have been painting all of my life. I attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Parson's School of Design and the School of Visual Arts. I earned my first bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in Fine Arts. However, I found art to be too self-involved and needed to give back. That is when I turned to teaching mathematics.
