I am a certified teacher with over 20 years experience. I have a Masters Degree in Education from Hunter College. I tutor reading, writing, math and social studies. My specialty is teaching reading comprehension and writing. I also have experience teaching math using the common core curriculum. I believe that education is an important way of improving ones life. My philosophy of teaching is to have my students become active participants in the learning process. I raise students academic skills by modeling and guiding students through a task. I want the students to understand the steps necessary to be successful. I also check for understanding before moving on to more complex assignments. It is important for my students to feel positive about their work and themselves.
