I have been a teacher and tutor for over 12 years, and have experience formally educating elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as college students and adults. I have a bachelors degree (BA) in biology from Wabash College, and both masters (MS) and doctorate (PhD) degrees in biology from Wake Forest University. I have taught and tutored both domestically and internationally (in both Peru and Ghana), and sharing knowledge about the sciences is one of my favorite things to do! I think learning should be engaging and fun, and I have seen students make tremendous gains in understanding when they feel heard, understood, and supported. I pride myself on my ability to simplify complex science-related concepts, helping students draw parallels to life experiences or content learned previously to pave the road to understanding. I believe in developing students into life-long learners, and put an emphasis on equipping students with study skills that will serve them in the interim between tutoring sessions, empowering and emboldening them to take greater control of their learning journey.
