Mark: Massachusetts tutor
Certified Tutor
I have a B.A in Anthropology, B.S in Speech-Langauge Pathology and am on-track to receiving my masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2021.
I have years of experience working as an educator and tutor. Overseas I taught English as a second language, and in Washington, I worked as an in-home and school Behavioral Technician implementing therapy goals for children with Autism.
When setting goals for students or clients, the target is always mastery and independence. I tailor my lesson plans and approach to the individual student's needs, and because of my background, I have an extensive pool of resources to pull from that I use to help my students succeed. Additionally, I track and graph progress to ensure that whatever approach we're using is successful and that students are meeting their long term and short term goals.
My background includes training in cultural anthropology, biology, chemistry, physics of sound, child development, neurophysiology (as it relates to memory, cognition, and the production of speech), linguistics, ESL, and creative fiction writing.
Outside of academia, I love playing games, running, traveling, cooking, photography, and reading research papers :p.
My primary goal for all my students is independent mastery of the subject matter. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" solution, and I use everything I've learned through education and clinical work collaboratively to make a system that works for my students and their families.
