Certified Tutor

I received my degree in English Literature from New Jersey City University in Jersey City. I hope to receive my masters degree in school counseling or social work. My tutoring experience is pretty new and intermediate. The school I work for provides a platform for me to tutor students struggling in English. I focus on essay formatting and grammar usage in homework. My favorite subject is English. Women in literature was one of my favorite classes in undergrad because it gave me insight of women writers from a feminist lens. My philosophy towards teaching and tutoring is to never do the work for students but give them insight. Motivation and moderation allows students to have the ability to learn. Outside of academics, I love music, sports, poetry and cooking. I understand the long term effects of good tutoring. Tutoring is a commitment that decreases the chance of failure. I plan to hold myself and students accountable for good quality work.
