Certified Tutor

Hello! I received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education at BYU-Idaho in December of 2019. I have also earned a TESOL certification through the International Open Academy. I have had quite a bit of experience tutoring and teaching. Through college, I worked as an English tutor for three of the four years I attended BYU-Idaho. I've worked both one-on-one and in small groups with students to improve their reading, writing, and grammar skills. I would say that one of my strengths while tutoring is breaking down the work into small, manageable pieces. I hate feeling overwhelmed by an assignment, so one of my goals is to help you not feel overwhelmed either.

My favorite subject to tutor is writing. I love helping students work through ideas, solve problems, and take pride in their writing abilities. I would describe my teaching/tutoring style as student oriented. I want to understand where your strengths are as well as your weaknesses. What worries you about your English abilities? What are you confident in? Do you like English or hate it? Why?

I will begin most of my tutoring sessions by asking what the student wants to work on, and we'll go from there. I think it is important to take learning one step at a time so that you can really understand the concepts and the "why?" behind what you're doing.

As for a little about me, some of my hobbies include painting, hiking, camping, and occasionally sitting down and binge watching The Office with my husband. I also like to read, spend time outside, and bake.
