I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I have worked tutoring children and young adults of all ages for many years. I enjoy teaching students how to develop their skills and become more competent and confident in their abilities to master reading and writing concepts. It would be my pleasure to work with your student of any grade and skill level in the areas of reading, writing and English. My own background with tutoring started with my own son who struggled for years with reading and writing. I was able to work with him regularly and got him to the point where he could read and write above grade level. I then went on to work in the school district where he attended, tutoring students of all grade and skill levels in the areas of reading, writing, and English phonics. I went on from there to attend college at SDSU out in California, where I am from, and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and my Master's Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. These degrees have enabled me to better teach people in the areas of English, reading, and writing both for both grade school and college level courses.

I then started teaching my daughter to write more effective essays and research papers at both the high school and college levels. From there I went on to teach students and adults how to write resumes and cover letters, and other business correspondence.

Outside of my education and tutoring experience, during my free time, I love watching sports --just about all sports, but in particular baseball, football, soccer and tennis. I also love spending time at Church and with my family.
