I am a recent graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where I obtained a Master's Degree in Creative Writing: Fiction. My Bachelor's Degree is in Professional Writing and from Baylor University in Texas. I am currently working on a novel and teaching Creative Writing Online through the University of Iowa.

I tutor English Literature, Academic Writing, Creative Writing, Basic Reading & Writing, and Study Skills. My favorite subject to tutor is Creative Writing because I think it's empowering to learn how to translate emotions and thoughts into art. However, I also enjoy teaching students how to feel confident while reading and writing for school.

I've taught one year of Creative Writing to college students in Iowa, a summer of high school English in Oakland, California, and have two years of experience working with kindergarten through sixth grade students in Texas through an after-school program. I've also worked as a summer camp counselor.

I would say my tutoring style is to avoid pressuring or stressing a student while simultaneously getting the most out of our time together and ensuring their growth. I do this by incorporating games or making the assignments feel relevant to themI think, for older students especially, it's necessary for the work to feel important.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing basketball, going on runs, watching movies, doing yoga and spending time with my friends.

I teach because I get joy from helping people see things more clearly and from finding ways to make learning fun. I'm patient, (hopefully) funny and kind. I would love to help you or your student excel.
