Certified Tutor

I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma with a passion for teaching and learning on all levels. I currently study biochemistry and am especially interested in natural products and their medicinal applications. Science is my focus, and I enjoy most science courses.

I have extensive experience teaching religion as a volunteer for two years in Albania. There, I learned the importance of making personal connections between the learner and the material taught. That has greatly influenced my tutoring philosophy and style. Anyone can throw information at a student, but that doesn't mean it will stick. My job as a tutor is to find creative ways to help a student internalize rather than just memorize information. This leads to higher retention, a better foundation for the future, and greater learning capabilities in general. I hope that my students get to the point that they don't need me anymore - because they have learned how to effectively acquire and retain knowledge on their own.

My favorite area to tutor is standardized test prep, especially the ACT. Scoring well on these tests can propel students towards important opportunities in their future education, and I enjoy being a part of that.

A little bit about me, I am a pretty big nerd. Star Wars gets my top slot, but I also enjoy the superhero and fantasy genres. I'm an avid reader (sci-fi/fantasy) and music lover (almost anything). I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and volleyball, and am always down to watch a game of football, be it European or American. Bottom line, I'm a passionate person, and am very dedicated to the things I do. I look forward to the chance to work with you and achieve success together!
