Certified Tutor

I am a sophomore at Spelman College, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. As the daughter of 2 teachers, I am passionate about education and look forward to helping my students improve in their academic subjects. After tutoring for four years in a wide range of topics, I have developed an approach to assisting students that I have found to be successful. While tutoring, I learn background information on my tutees and then use that information to help me describe the topic at hand in a way that can be easily understood. In addition to forming this connection, I break down problems into smaller pieces that can be more manageable for the students and then help them make the connections necessary to solve the problems. Throughout the process, I teach the study techniques required for a student to continue this excellent work independently from a tutoring session. I can not wait for us to get started!
