Certified Tutor

I am an engaging and effective elementary and middle school literacy and mathematics tutor with years of experience, including as a certified teacher.

I truly enjoy facilitating a child's learning. The one-on-one or small group attention students receive from a good tutor is a wonderful enhancement to their educational growth. I am a big believer in using models and manipulatives that aid in strengthening mathematical understanding. I also find knowing and understanding students' different learning styles helps increase success in learning.

Being as literate as possible opens doors to so many more possibilities for any human. I remember a teenager I mentored years back say, "I'm not a reader. I don't like to read." He could read but he thought of reading as a hobby and one he wasn't interested in having. If you can read then you are a reader! Some texts we "have" to read as part of various responsibilities but we can all love to read the texts and genres that interest us.
