Thomas J. Concannon grew up in Chester, New Jersey in an Irish Catholic family. He was the oldest of three with a younger brother and sister. Education and love of family were always the top priorities in the Concannon household. Tom's love for teaching began while helping his young brother and sister complete their homework in school growing up.
Tom was accepted into Delbarton School in 7th Grade after scoring in the upper echelon on the entrance exam. After Delbarton School he moved on to Manhattan College where he studied Finance, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
After finishing college Tom worked on Wall Street for three years, with a concentration in commodities. In surveying the next steps in his life Tom concluded he would be better served helping people. He applied and was accepted to Columbia University's Pre-Medicine Post-Baccalaureate Program. Tom graduated from Columbia with a 3.5 GPA and a 29 on the MCAT's. Thomas then completed Medical School, graduating with his M.D. in January of 2018.
His love of teaching was reinvigorated in Medical School. He taught many review classes for the younger students in BioChemistry and Microbiology. Since his graduation he has been responsible for providing tutoring to students in Medical School, assisting them to take their first through fourth year exams, OSCE assessment, and Medical Boards.
He currently has three students who have passed their NBME (National Board of Medical Examiners), achieving high scores, and will assist them in preparing for the Step One of their Medical Boards. Tom receives great fulfillment in assisting these students achieve their goals. He always challenges his students to push themselves in reaching their full potential.
In his spare time, Tom loves to volunteer in Brooklyn with the Read 718 Program. It is especially important to him cause he tutors children reading below grade level. He also loves watching sports with friends and family. Tom, when he can find time, loves to play golf. He started at the young age of nine and still loves playing to this day.
