I believe writing is a skill that we must learn and practice. I don't believe anyone who says that writing is a just a natural talent! Even the best writers practice every day. I am passionate about helping students learn the process of writing. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kansas, where I was a peer writing tutor for 3 years in the Writing Center. Then I graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School with my Juris Doctor degree. In law school, I taught legal writing to first-year students, and now I am a practicing attorney who provides legal writing training to new attorneys and paralegals in my office. I also write every single day. In my years of experience teaching, tutoring, and completing my own writing projects, my approach has evolved beyond "editing" and "proofreading" (though that is sometimes required). I'm committed to teaching others a process they can go out and implement on their own. Though tutoring writing is my first passion, I also tutor law students and lawyers preparing for the Uniform Bar Exam. I have taken this exam in multiple states and have developed several strategies for digesting vast quantities of information in limited amounts of time. When I'm not tutoring or practicing law, you can find me knitting, watching scary movies, or taking long walks with my Great Dane. I look forward to helping you succeed in your writing and test preparation pursuits!
