Certified Tutor
I have been teaching and tutoring high school students in test prep since 2017. I love working with students, and I've found that the best way to teach them is by learning along with them. I have learned (or relearned) a lot of subject matter while working as a teacher, and this has helped me relate to students the best by understanding the learning process they are going through.
My goal for students is for them to be confident with everything they learn and to know how to get the best scores on their exams. To help students understand difficult topics, I will often draw or write my own examples that are not included in the textbooks. Not only does this work well for visual learners, it helps ensure they have an understanding of the concepts and not just the questions in the book. While teaching test prep, I have also had students work to recognize their strong and weak areas. Depending on the situation, there are times when students should know their limits and focus mainly on what they know best in order to get their best scores.
I am excited about working for Varsity Tutors and looking forward to working with students!
