Certified Tutor

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English at Brenau University and my Master of Arts in Publishing and Writing at Emerson College. I am currently working toward a Master of Arts in English at Southern New Hampshire University. My history of tutoring goes back over a decade; I started working as a peer tutor in the Brenau Writing Center as an undergraduate student and continued working as a peer tutor at Emerson while working on my M.A. After completing my first graduate degree, I started teaching English at a couple of Atlanta-area colleges. I love the one-on-one interaction of tutoring, however, so have continued doing so when I'm not teaching. With my extensive English and writing experience, I tutor a wide range of subjects, though I love to tutor writing and literature because I can share my love of the written word with students. I also enjoy tutoring the English and Reading sections of the ACT and the Reading and Writing section of the SAT because it doesn't have to be boring even if it's a standardized test. I believe the skills taught within the English discipline, especially writing skills, are incredibly important, and this appreciation for strong communication skills is something I try to share with my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, watching Atlanta sports teams, and playing with my rescue dog.
