My name is Leonie Barkakati and I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences from the University of Florida, and a Masters in Education in Higher Education from UMass Amherst.

I have been passionate about writing from a young age. In high school, I was a Copy Editor for the school newspaper, and in college I edited prose for the eminent Tea Literary Magazine. I have also edited work for several master's and doctoral theses while I was a graduate student.

My passion for tutoring came from my year of being a writing tutor at Hillsborough Community College. There, I gathered a variety of skills to really tailor my approach to individual students. I assisted many bilingual and international students, students with disabilities, and non-traditional students (adults returning to education, veterans).

In my approach to writing tutoring, I hope to give students the confidence to be able to face any writing assignment with confidence.
