I am a sincere believer that all people have the capacity to learn, grow, and develop. I believe that with the proper strategies and tools challenges can become strengths. I did not always have such strong convictions in my practice until I started teaching 5 years ago. I worked as a middle school teacher where I taught Social Studies, English, Reading and Writing.

I worked with students who some believed would never pass a state test. Many of my students had been deemed "unteachable" because of their behavior issues. I quickly learned that most students want to learn; they want to excel. All of them can do that if they truly believe in themselves and have support to reach their goals. My first year as a Reading teacher was especially challenging, however, my students mastered the content at 98%. It was a record for the school, and confirmation that indeed all students can learn and reach their goals.
