Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Rutgers University New Brunswick, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. After graduation, I moved to Albany, New York to work as a Java developer for CommerceHub. At CommerceHub, I became familiar with the industry standard for software development. After half a year on the job, I was placed in charge of the education phase for a company-wide migration from Mercurial to Git (two different version control platforms). I was tasked with educating over 120 developers on the features of the new platform and how it compares to the old one; I wrote detailed documentation, gave presentations, and was available to answer any questions . Ultimately the process involved breaking down the complex layers of Git into simple, easy to understand instructions.

While I am capable of tutoring a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Mathematics and Computer Science. The most enjoyable part of tutoring for me is learning that one of my students has improved or reached his or her goal. The most enjoyable part
of learning for me is 'figuring it out'; while learning can be rigorous, the joy of 'figuring it out' makes it all worth it. While I may already know the answer, I try to guide my students towards making their own personal discoveries. I believe that if I teach you a subject, you may forget it in a couple of years, but if I teach you how to learn more quickly and efficiently, you will keep that for the rest of your life. In my free time I enjoy coding, playing the piano, playing tennis, and playing online games with my friends (League of Legends, Steam, etc).
