Katherine: Montgomery County tutor
Certified Tutor
I love learning, and I love teaching. To me, the old statement that "education is not the filling of a vessel but the lighting of a fire" is words to live by. I look forward to working with you to help you improve your classwork in history, geography, and English. I have a passion for these subject areas, and I look forward to sharing my passion with you!
I spent nine years as a classroom history teacher, three years in special education, and I have my certifications in English as a Second Language and in Copyediting. I am also a published writer, so I am more than able to assist you in your writing tasks.
I earned my Master of Education degree from Lesley University in 1996 and my Bachelor's degree in History and Geography from the University of Vermont in 1994.
From September through March, I tutor full-time for a women's junior hockey team. As the only social studies tutor for the team, I am responsible for subjects ranging from U.S. History to World History to Geography, Canadian Studies, and beyond. I have been a professional tutor for the team for four years. In my capacity there, I help with study skills, essay writing, organization, and test preparation.
I am a lifelong learner and educator and I look forward to helping you meet your learning goals, whatever they may be!
