Hello, my name is Izumi but please call me Zoom. I moved to the US from Japan when I was fourteen years-old, so I learned English as a second language. I also studied Mandarin Chinese as a student at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, then lived in Taiwan for three years after I graduated. From these experiences, I understand how challenging but also rewarding it is to learn a new language. It is frustrating when you order a coke in a foreign language and given a coffee instead, but the next time you order a coke and actually given a coke - that moment is pricelss!
Whatever your reasons for wanting to learn Japanese, I would like to guide you and achieve your goals. I have experience tutoring conversational Japanese to children and also Business Japanese to adults. I am a trained medical interpreter as well.
On my spare time, I enjoy practicing Pilates and trying out new restaurants with my husband, especially for Sushi! My family has moved back to the suburbs of Tokyo, so I try to visit them at least once a year.
