Certified Tutor

I got my degree in History Education at Southern Arkansas University. I have over 10 years of teaching experience! I have my TESOL certification and currently working with kids in China learning English! I'm currently working on getting my TEFL certification as well. I'm interested in learning different languages and I'm looking forward to taking a refresher in Spanish, learning Chinese, American Sign Language just to name a few languages that I want to learn so I can communicate with people from different backgrounds. Teaching has always been my dream job and I get to do that! Make learning fun is my motto to have because if you are having fun then you don't realize you are learning! I first knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 2nd grade. Through high school, I worked part time at different day cares and preschools. While in college, I started substitute teaching at several school districts. It was then I decided definitely that teaching was going to be my career! I taught all grades, even the ALE students. I also got to work one on one with special needs students, which was a joy in itself. I was always called to sub for this young man who was nonverbal and by the end of the school year I had worked with him to say his name since he liked to wander. I also worked with another student who did not speak any English except Hello. Within 3 lessons, she was able to say Hello, tell her name, and ask how someone was and answer them. By the end of the school year she was talking with so many vocabulary words you would have thought she was a native speaker to the English language. I've also worked as a Teacher Aide at the Off Campus Suspension School which was at risk teens for dropping out of school. I worked one on one with several in different subjects. There were several who did not know how to read or write so that is what we worked on. I'm so proud and happy to say they graduated with a GPA over 3.0! I love seeing the sparkle in children and adults eyes when they understand what they just learned then comes the grin! That is the best reward is to know that I was able to help someone else with something. I also homeschool my own children and have for 4 years. Teaching is my dream job and I get to do that on so many different levels and I love meeting new people and learning about them and their cultures!
