My experience in education is a very unique one, as it has been a part of my ultimate goal to become a academic physician. Prior to college, I was a part-time math and science tutor for elementary and middle school students. My personal motto is "to whom much is given, from him much is expected". My passion for education stems from my appreciation of all the good teachers, mentors, and tutors that have helped me throughout my career. I have been blessed with some of the best teachers, and it brings me joy to be able to be that blessing to young learners. While studying biomedical engineering and pre-medicine at the University of Michigan I served as an ACT prep course tutor and volunteered as a math and science tutor at the local high school. I also served as a summer instructor for the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program teaching math and science to middle school students, and it was amazing! Encouraging kids to get excited about math and science has been my motivation to stay focused throughout my career. My greatest goal as a teacher, is to serve as a role model. During medical school at Michigan State University I served as a mentor to premedical students throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Helping students as they prepared for the MCAT (medical school entrance exam), was extremely satisfying. I look forward to helping students of all ages and backgrounds on varsity tutors achieve academic success.
