Certified Tutor

While working as a full time teacher within the public school system for the last 4 years, I have been fortunate enough to teach 8 different math contents. I studied mathematics as an undergraduate and have a sincere passion for this content. Through teaching, I have gained an even deeper understanding and appreciation for the mathematical concepts and practices. Not only have I learned more about mathematics in this short time, but I have also learned an incredible amount about teaching in the last 4 years. I have created course lectures, presentations, assignments, and assessments that have focused on student engagement and learning, addressing many different learning styles and needs, while maintaining and encouraging positive relationships throughout each course. I have also worked cooperatively with colleagues through curriculum writing, adhered to all district policies and procedures, and have kept informed of changing educational trends throughout the country in order to best meet the needs of the students.

I am a firm believer in the importance of mathematics in each students life. My eyes have been opened to the serious dislike students have for math and my determination has been set to change that feeling for each student that passes through my door. I have also come to realize the important role I play as a teacher for student success. My dream would be for every student to love math, yes, but even more important, my dream is for every student to be prepared for his or her future. I have strong goals for myself and even stronger goals for my students to succeed in whatever comes their way.
