My goal as a tutor is to enter into the world of each student to discover what interests them; helping them to become personally invested in learning to organize themselves and prepare for success. My tutoring philosophy is very simple and centers around consistency, positive reinforcement, and working to improve skills as well as confidence. I received my Bachelors Degree in English in 2012 from Towson University. During my time as an undergrad, I tutored children in reading and creative writing sophomore through senior year. Upon graduation, I studied abroad in Greece where I learned Greek myth, story-telling, and how to cook great food. After returning home, I pursued a career in professional cooking, and have worked in fine dining restaurants throughout Baltimore. Although I loved cooking and teaching others to cook, I am currently applying to pursue a PhD in Child Psychology. In my spare time I volunteer with Baltimore's BUGS program helping 2nd through 5th graders with homework as well as teaching cooking classes there once a week. Everyone comes from a different background, and I will make sure that my student and I work together to achieve success using their interests, passions, and strengths.
