Certified Tutor
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis graduating in May 2020 with a BA in Anthropology with a concentration in Global Health and Environment, and with minors in Spanish and Psychology. In the past, I have tutored fellow classmates in various subjects and occasionally their younger siblings. Currently, I am a part of my school's Ninos Cambios Puertas Tutoring program for underprivileged Hispanic youth in south St. Louis where I tutor students from age 5 to young adults working toward their GED. Usually, I tutor in middle or high school subjects, mainly math-related subjects (as they are my favorites) such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Calculus I. I also tutor in History, Spanish, English, and Science (including Biology and Chemistry). I like to get to know my student personally prior to tutoring as I have found it makes the sessions easier and smoother. I stand out amongst other tutors because of my age. I can relate to younger, mostly high school students, better since I am not that much older than them, yet I am old enough to have authority over them. I want the student to get the grade but to also have the retained knowledge for courses in the future. I also help students in mentoring situations to help work towards their future goals. Outside of class, I like to read, watch movies, do yoga, Zumba, shop, ice skate, and play volleyball.
