Certified Tutor

I am a senior at Middle Tennessee State University working towards a degree in Japanese with a minor in audio production and English. During my recent six month study abroad in Japan, I was a teacher assistant within a local English conversation school and helped students within a broad range of ages and professional backgrounds. I have had many opportunities to assist my Japanese acquaintances in their English learning both abroad and within the States. My main tutoring focus is on English, with an emphasis on sentence structure, reading skills, and tests such as TOEFL. I find the greatest sense of joy when a difficult topic in a subject finally begins to click for my students, and that is what I want to help my students achieve: little aha! moments. With the growing need for English around the world as a second language, and for improved comprehension levels domestically, I want to ensure that my students achieve that no matter what their starting level may be. In my free time, I enjoy learning languages (currently studying Japanese and plan to take up Korean and Spanish more seriously soon), writing music and poetry, running and working out, and long boarding.
