I would like to introduce myself by laying out a few of my personal endeavors and enthusiasms. For one, I am a student, both personally and professionally, of various disciples; a devotee to the learning of knowledge, and knowledge that transcends cultural bounds and discrimination. Because of this, I often find myself drawn to World Literature and the linguistical capabilities of our nature; for it is through these arts one learns the most about their neighbor. A key quality of mine I want to highlight is that I am the strongest lover of reading, writing and exploring the literary art.
Indeed, my personal passion for such an art has merged into my academic and professional identity. Because of this passion, I have directed my future towards the literary art as well.
This merging of my passion with my duty has resulted in my enjoying my career, and performing my responsibilities to not just the best of my capabilities, but also with a smile.
I have recently become an published Author, an achievement I owe not to just my enthusiasm, but also to my persistence with the literary art, and my determination to excel within it.
I also work with Graduate students at Columbia University and help edit and construct their theses, an opportunity I would not have found were my literary skills inapt.
Considering this, I have molded my entire professional self to compliment my passion, and I can attest that there is no greater feeling than doing what I love as a career.
The reason I am stressing my passion for my skills, is to try and explain my overall philosophy for education. I believe desire, enthusiasm and the inclination to improve is the key for success in any field, and as a tutor I believe it is my duty to induce within the client this profound appreciation for the literary art.
As a peer counselor, I have worked with many students through their academic struggles and stresses, as well as their insecurities that parallel the academic identity; through my experience in this role, I have learned the techniques and the key approaches to better, or perhaps, assuage the mind within the academic atmosphere.
Currently, I am studying Forensic Psychology at John Jay College, and anticipate to study School Psychology for Graduate School. My shift towards the School Psychology Doctorate is a reflection of my endeavor to better the education system and establish a stronger presence of the literary world into the school system.
Besides my professional resume, my hobbies include Chess, a brilliant game I can talk about for hours! Boxing, my favorite sport, and one that I train on my free time, and watch to my hearts content! And, of course, reading and writing; just in case I wasn't clear about that! I love to read poetry, Literary fiction, and my favorite poet is W.B Yeats, and my favorite author is Oscar Wilde.
