Farah: Manhattan tutor
Certified Tutor
I grew up in a small town in California but went to school in the East Coast. I graduated from Princeton University in 2016 with a major in History and Certificates in African American Studies. After graduation, I worked in NYC through a post-graduate public service fellowship that I received at Princeton.
I find tutoring exciting and challenging as the experience of it pushes me to think and be creative on the spot. I have been tutoring since high school where I was a peer tutor. I used to tutor in classes (such as Algebra and ESL) and provide any homework help students need in our school's learning center (such as revising essays, time management etc.). At Princeton, I volunteered to tutor at local prison facilities in New Jersey. I tutored inmates who were trying to get their GED/high school diploma. During a summer in college, I received a grant to organize a youth education and empowerment program for Syrian refugee and native youth in Jordan. There, I had to design ESL curriculum and conduct classes for youth in various ages, including teenagers at the middle school/high school level and younger students in the elementary level.
Because I have tutored a diversity of people and in various contexts, I am prepared to tutor across ages and education levels. I can also provide mentorship in the areas of college prep., study/time management, and more. Happy to work around your schedule as well!
