I recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in Public Health Studies.

Throughout my time at Hopkins, I integrated my interests in public health, medicine and writing. Writing has long been a passion of mine, and taking advantage of writing intensive opportunities was one of my priorities. I have taken writing intensive courses in a variety of disciplines including expository writing, scientific writing/scientific literature reviews, clinical psychology, bioethics, health policy, public policy and social welfare policy.

I am prepared to tutor students seeking essay editing or assistance with high school/college writing assignments. I value my own ability to produce effective prose that is clear, concise and meaningful. This is the same skillset that I hope to develop in my tutoring students.

When reviewing any writing sample, I begin by carefully examining the instructions for the assignment. I will review these with you to ensure that we both understand the aim of the writing sample. I will focus on the content of the prose and the presence/strength of the academic argument/hypothesis. I will examine the paper for its evidence-base and use of references while honing in on the choices that you made throughout the writing process. We will discuss these choices and consider the thought process behind the main elements of the paper, the inclusion of examples/references, the overarching themes, the tone of the writing and its style. We will evaluate the overall structure of the paper and the transitions from one idea to the next. We will examine the paper for proper use of grammar. We will make any adjustments as needed to produce a writing sample that you are proud to complete. My goal is to train you to develop an attentive, mindful and diligent approach to writing anything. I look forward to opportunities to make your written work as effective as it can be!
