Certified Tutor

I started tutoring in my junior year of high school and my supervisor assigned me to the science and math courses along with the writing/reading courses. With this, I am able to demonstrate my knowledge in these subjects. Although he preferred me to reside in the science/math room, he needed a tutor in the reading/writing room and I was the only one qualified. My tutoring career continued when I applied to tutor high school students for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Upward Bound program. I was selected from the 28 people that applied with only five positions opened, and I was just only a freshman then. I was to tutor chemistry and algebra for freshman and sophomores. My tutoring position will continue into the fall semester, enhancing my communication skills. These two experiences have taught me ways to approach students with different backgrounds. I will continue tutoring for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as a chemistry 101 tutor for nursing students. This opportunity allows me to interact with people of all ages, and I think it is beneficial to have those interactions as it widens my perspective. Not only that, I have come to understand that people learn at different paces from multiple perspectives.
