I have always had an interest in biology and the biomedical sciences. As a graduate from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Medical Science from Drexel University, combined with my two years of experiences as a high school teacher, my educational background and diverse experiences allow me to make a substantial positive contribution to the young minds that I tutor.
While at SLU, I took almost every graduate course that was offered in the Cellular and Molecular Biology curriculum. I also wrote the current Wikipedia page on the signaling protein mTORC1, which allowed me to translate very complex scientific knowledge into language that could be readily understood by the average person.
I further pursued my interests in biology in medicine at Drexel, obtaining a Master's degree in Medical Science, where I took 58 credits worth of medical school classes.
After graduating from Drexel, I began teaching at John F. Kennedy Catholic High school. There, I taught all five of the biology classes that the school offered. For two of those classes, Advanced College Credit Biology and Advanced College Placement Anatomy and Physiology, I served as an adjunct instructor for Saint Louis University and the University of Missouri - St. Louis, respectively. The initial experience of designing lesson plans, labs, and assessments for all of those classes was challenging, but very worthwhile. I felt that through this experience, I was able to connect with, and positively impact the students on an extraordinary level. Unfortunately, the school was no longer able to financially meet the needs of all of the students that it served and the school closed this spring. Because I have long anticipated moving cities in the summer of 2018, and continue to move to another city shortly after, I currently am not pursuing to teach at another school.
Throughout my life, I have always had an extraordinary passion for teaching. I have always felt that the role of a teacher provides the greatest opportunity to positively impact the lives of others. Through my volunteer experiences, I have learned that achieving one's full potential is greatly affected by the availability of quality educational opportunities. I believe that an effective teacher not only expands the minds of students, but also, and perhaps more importantly, develops their character. I am very confident that I can well serve any of the students that I have the opportunity of tutoring.
