David: Edmonton tutor
Certified Tutor
My mission as an educator is to help equip people with the skills and knowledge they need to create the life they want. I believe the best way to help people learn is to help them see the real-world connections to what they are studying. However, learning is not always easy. As a tutor, I help each client identify what is getting in the way so I can help them overcome the obstacle. Sometimes it is helping them understand something conceptually. Other times it is helping them see how what they are studying is connected to a previous unit. At times my job is to help a client overcome the challenging emotions behind what they are studying. I approach each client holistically in order to help them succeed.
I grew up in the Boston area but spent most of my adult life living in California and the New York area. I have worked as an environmental policy analyst, Peace Corps volunteer, and (mostly) as a biology high school teacher. I enjoy the outdoors, exercise (Crossfit), reading, walking my dog, and cooking. I also enjoy international travel. I have spent considerable time in Latin America (Ecuador and Mexico), Morocco, and parts of Asia (Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand).
