I recently graduated from Seattle University with a BS in Cell and Molecular Biology, Magna Cum Laude. I am currently taking a break from school in order to prep for med school applications--hopefully within in the next couple years!:)

In contrary to popular beliefs about bio majors, my most effective study technique is to avoid memorization whenever I can. I always aim for long retention of information--yes, I am against cramming! Of course, there are numerous occasions where memorization is unavoidable. In those cases, we will work together as a team to find a way that suits YOU best to make it as easy (and fun) as possible.

I always try to gain a deep understanding of the concepts that I learn. It may seem like a lot of work--which sometimes it is; but trust me, it is always worth it in the long run. With this technique, at times when I don't remember a particular information, I will still remember how to obtain it.

After all, not all of us are blessed with the gift of photographic memory! And even if you are, I'm sure you wouldn't want to downgrade your learning experience by turning yourself into a flashdrive:)
