I am currently an undergraduate student working on my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science while also pursuing a minor in mathematics. In addition to my college education, I attended Oxford Academy for high school, graduating in 2014. For about thirteen years, I have been an active member of the Boy Scouts of America obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, serving in multiple roles that aided youth in learning positive life skills. Currently, I serve as an assistant adult leader for cub scouts in my troop, helping children ages 6-11 engage in leadership roles, outdoor skills, and positive citizenship. In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and hiking as well as sports such as basketball, football, and soccer. I wish to use my experiences in my academics and community service to help guide other students who are facing similar obstacles as I have faced. Whether it is Advanced Placement courses and exams or college-level courses, I hope to help students not only excel in their learning, but also take passion and joy in it as well. The subjects that I take most passion in tutoring are Mathematics, English, History, and Computer Science. With more than three years of college-level mathematics courses, I wish to impart my understanding of it to other students in helping them understand the world in a different way while helping them develop logical and critical thinking skills. Although it is often viewed as an unpopular subject among many students, one of my goals in tutoring is to show others of not only the importance of mathematics in our lives, but help shape students thinking to help them become better problem-solvers. In the subject of English, I strive to guide students on the path to becoming better writers a skill that is not only necessary in school, but also vital to their future in the workplace. Furthermore, the subject I enjoy teaching the most is history as it tells a story of our past and we use it to understand the world as it is now. I enjoy teaching and discussing historical events since I believe it helps students not only understand how things happened, but also become knowledgeable of the world. I am a very strong believer in bestowing a strong education among students in a way that actively engages them while helping them develop a passion for its subjects. My philosophy on education is that one can only learn when he/she can find not just an interest, but a reason as to why that subject is necessary. Therefore, my goal as a tutor is to not just help students become better at studying and learning, but to give students a reason why what they are learning is important.
