Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina receiving a BA in English Language and Literature and a MT in Secondary Education, Capella University receiving a EdS in Supervision and Administration, and am currently completing doctoral studies at Morgan State University. I have spent 10 years teaching in a variety of school settings in South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, and overseas. I have worked in traditional comprehensive schools and schools with more focused curriculum such as STEM, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and other Magnet programs in grades 6-12. My areas of expertise includes English Composition and Literature and Reading. I strongly believe that education is possible when learners have mastered basic skills and we should continue to push all learners towards mastery.

As a tutor, I provide focused attention to a students specific needs, however I believe that this is a transactional process where both parties is responsible for working towards a common goal. Instruction is student-centered and students are provided the tools needed to be successful.

Outside of Academia, I am a sports enthusiast. I am a track and field athlete and currently working on embracing the game of tennis. I enjoy cooking and trying new dishes, reading novels, visiting museums, seeing a movie, and live music... when my doctoral studies allows.
