I am a non-traditional college student who is working toward an Education degree in English Language Arts. I have been a part-time, non-traditional college student for the past 7 years (I have taken a few semesters off and some only consisted of 1 or 2 courses). If everything goes according to my plans, I will graduate with my Bachelor's in May 2020. From there, I plan to earn a Master's and PhD in English Literature. I attended Butler County Community College before transferring to Youngstown State University where I will earn my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.
As I am planning on teaching high school English Language Arts, I am interested in tutoring only in that field. I have only tutored for a brief time as a requirement for the two Education courses that I have taken so far. However, I believe that I am a strong tutor and have the ability to positively impact students. I was informed that one student that I worked with raised their grade by 2 letters while I tutored them. I would describe my tutoring style as doing the best I can to encourage the student to want to learn the material. When it comes to English, there is much more than just reading and writing. We use the English language in every aspect of our lives.
My personal life revolves around my extremely rambunctious toddler and working full-time as the General Manager for a 13-company conglomerate. When I'm not working or chasing after my child, I like to attend sporting events particularly football and hockey. Naturally, I also love to read and write. I have been writing a young adult science fiction trilogy for many years and hope that I will complete it someday.
