Certified Tutor
I began my academic career studying at Gustavus Adolphus College, where I studied sports medicine and English. Though these two arenas are vastly different, I was able to bring them together during my sport management masters program at Wingate University.
I began tutoring in high school, in the peer to peer program. In college and graduate school I worked with my fellow students as a peer editor. Since then, I have been a freelance tutor for high school students in my local community.
With my background in sports medicine and English, I have spent many courses studying the human body and our native language. the courses I am available to tutor for are anatomy and physiology and English (writing) oriented.
I am a strong advocate for self learning and I focus my tutoring sessions on not only helping a student in topics where they may struggle, but also focus on the tools they have to teach themselves. You can give a man a kitchen full of ingredients and tools, but he is not a cook or chef, until he knows how to use them. My goal is to help students learn on their own, how to be their own teacher, editor, tutor, and best tool so they may become independent and motivated learners.
Outside of academia, I work full time as an athletic trainer for a high school and two middle schools. When I am not working, I can be found exercising, gardening, traveling, (attempting) to learn the guitar, or spending time with my two goofy Great Danes.
