Alex
Certified Tutor
I am a Kansas State University student currently working on my bachelors degree in Biosystems Engineering. My academic interests lie in math and literature, both of which I have studied and taught to others with my utmost passion and effort. It is my personal opinion that all students deserve to have a patient and passionate teacher who not only caters to their preferences, but also helps them develop a stronger and more personal connection to their educational material. I am qualified to teach general math, algebra, calculus, grammar, and English. I am also qualified to tutor for all portions of the ACT, including Writing.
My favorite subject to teach is math, from high to low, algebra to calculus. Math can be very much like a puzzle that's possible to solve in infinite ways depending on the method. Many times, public schools can treat math like a process rather than a puzzle, which ultimately ends up discouraging, confusing, and boring students. My tutoring method involves redefining math with visuals, graphing, and walking through each stage of a problem so that students fully understand each component of the problem.
Aside from academics, I am also very interested in art, cartooning, and music. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside in nature, making music, and socializing. I also enjoy talking about comedy, politics, and pop culture to whomever will listen.
Thank you for your interest, and I hope to work with you in the future!
