Certified Tutor

Hi! I am Florida State and Boston University graduate. I received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Humanities from FSU followed by my Master of Arts in Teaching from BU. I am a certified Language Arts/English teacher who is passionate about making an impact through education. I have led my students to great gains in the classroom with a combination of hard work, targeting misconceptions, catering learning styles to specific needs, and focusing on improving specific skills (rather than a general concept). I believe that for great teaching to take place, there needs to be a deep knowledge of both the subject and the student. I will work hard to get to know students and their individual interests; relationship building will be a foundation for the work we do together. I also have high expectations and will push us both to work hard to achieve the student's immediate and long-term academic goals.

I have experience teaching in a charter school in New England, an inner-city school in Boston, a private college preparatory school in Virginia, and a public school in Florida. All of those experiences with students have granted me deep insight into cultivating success. I am passionate about building a student's self-confidence, working deeply with a text, and watching an essay develop.

When not working with students, I am walking my favorite park, on my yoga mat, hanging out with my family, listening to podcasts, writing in my journal, reading a book, or listening to peaceful ambient music.
