I have a B.A. in American History with a minor in French from Kennesaw State University. In addition, I have done two Study Abroad trips to France to study the language and culture. I also love studying both French and American History, particularly the ways in which they have converged. I enjoy sharing my passion with others, and hope to convey my enthusiasm to students who are studying these subjects.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Make the subject relevant in some way to the student's area of interest. If a student sees no relevance in what they are learning, they will not be motivated to succeed.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Review the student's recent work in the subject and the assignments they are currently working on. Assess their level of ability, and identify the areas in which they need to improve.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By being a facilitator who can help the student find the answers for himself, and by guiding the student in critical-thinking skills so he can gain the confidence to learn and apply the material on his own.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By setting up regular assessments that show the student the progress she is making, and by encouraging her to see the bigger picture in learning the material.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

First, try to identify what it about the concept that is difficult for the student, and then identify his learning style (verbal, aural, visual, or kinesthetic) in order to tailor lessons accordingly
