What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is starting each topic from the easiest examples to more difficult ones and making my class very engaging.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

First of all, I introduce myself and tell the student my academic background and my achievements. Then I proceed to ask the student all the areas where he or she needs my help, and working together, we will ferret ways to remedy every of his or her Math problems.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I have achieved this by making my class more engaging and interactive. Asking open-ended questions, allowing responses from each student, which ultimately promote self confidence, problem-solving skills and deeper understanding.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By creating an open door to the student for support, acknowledging his or her efforts, and giving him or her a sense of control and positive competition.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

By solving questions that allow for the improvising of relevant teaching or instructional materials.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

First, I make sure the student sees me as a friend and not a teacher. Establishing this will make me gain his or her confidence, thereby allowing the student to be able to express him or herself without fear or being shy.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

By applying real-life concepts to the subject.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

By giving life to the available material.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By having the student attempt all exercises at the end of each topic. This will give him or her a better understanding of the subject and boost the student's confidence.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

By checking a student's take home assignments and working on any deficiencies.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I have to know the assimilation rate of the student, and ask questions to know the areas where he or she is deficient, and pick it up from there.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

it depends on the topic you are teaching. If for example, you are working on areas of plane shapes, take a rectangle. I have used the student's desk as instructional material; material they see and feel.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I could recommend them to an English teacher.
