What is your teaching philosophy?

I've picked up many unique strategies to teach my students over the years. My strategies include adopting a different mindset to approach the subject and simplifying each question as much as possible. My strategies improve my students' time management and confidence!

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I want my students to adapt a unique mindset. Although many of my students first started out hating reading comprehension, they soon realized that reading comprehension is like an open book test. When you keep telling yourself that a section is easy, you will keep your high level of confidence.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I want my students to adapt a unique mindset. I also want my students to use strategies to make each question as simple as possible.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

If my students can teach their friends, family, or any person about the material, the students truly understand the topic.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will ask the student to take a short diagnostic prior to the first lesson. I would like to see how much the student truly understands of the material. I'll then go over the questions that the student had trouble with.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

The only way to improve your score in school and on standardized exams is to just keep practicing. There's a format for each kind of question, and once you identify it, you know what to watch out for and how to approach it.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I'll break down each question into parts to make it as simple as possible. There's a format for each kind of question, and once the student can identify it, he or she will know what to watch out for and how to approach it.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

With strategies and practice, the student will be very confident in his or her abilities. With enough practice, he or she will be able to identify the format for each kind of question, know what to watch out for, and know how to approach it.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

I will identify a student's needs through the first diagnostic exam that I will be providing. Oftentimes, students tell me their target score, grade, or college that they are trying to enroll in.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

For students that want to achieve high scores, we will utilize as many strategies as we can to tackle every type of question. We will be spending most of our time working on practice questions.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I've provided real practice exams in the past. When necessary, I will also ask my student to read a specific book with a strategy that I like.
