I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Anthony: Wheaton tutor

Certified Tutor

I earned my BA in Mathematics at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

My tutoring experience includes:
Tutoring other students while attending college at TCNJ. Primarily in math, though I did tutor a few other areas including general Chemistry and General Physics.
Tutoring students at the Academic Development Center at Georgian Court University while a graduate assistant at the university. I tutored in all math areas including preparation for the Math portion of the Accuplacer test and I tutored in some of the sciences.
Tutoring some students privately in Algebra (high school and college level), Middle School math, and statistics.

I have experience teaching Mathematics at the high school level and teaching math courses as an adjunct professor on the college level.

I tutor all math up to Calculus (including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1, 2), High School Chemistry and High School Physics

My favorite subject to tutor is Mathematics and more specifically Geometry. Part of the reason I prefer Geometry is that I like the different shapes and diagrams. I see applications of Geometry in the world around me. I also enjoy using different theorems in determining the properties of a geometric shape or diagram.

When tutoring, I prefer to listen the area(s) of difficulty described to me. I will demonstrate working through one (or more) examples. Ultimately, students will need to work through a problem on there own. While they work on their problems alone, I will work through it as well. I do this so: If errors occur, I can show the student what I did and explain my thought process working through the problem. I am also able to sometimes see where a student may have run into some difficulty and point this out to them. When I come across a problem that is unfamiliar to me, I show the student what I do in these situations. This includes looking through class notes, reading the examples shown in the text book, and if needed looking through other sources (Internet, Library, other books, etc. ) for assistance.

Other interest besides mathematics include Technology, Astronomy, Travel, Photography, Baseball, History, Skiing, Reading, and Playing board games.
