The moment of clarity, when accounting truly begins to make total sense. It is out there, and it is totally achievable. When I am tutoring a student, I am constantly searching for that moment of enlightenment. At that moment, you won't need me. At that moment, you will ace every accounting exam.
I have worked in the accounting profession for over 20 years. I was first exposed to the discipline in high school. I competed and excelled in numerous district and state business competitions. In college, I graduated magna cum laude with a cumulative 4.0 GPA in my accounting courses.
However, it wasn't until I entered the workforce that the underlying logic of accounting came full circle. Prior to that, I excelled by memorizing and completing thousands of practice questions. However, I've worked and ran the accounting departments for companies with billions in revenue. The most complex accounting transactions and reporting issues were thrown at me consistently on a daily basis. One day, it became crystal clear. There really is one powerful and simple formula that summarizes my beloved discipline.
Assets = Liabilities + Equity
Once, you understand the totality of that equation. There is no problem you will encounter that you can't solve. Allow me to be your guide.

What is your teaching philosophy?
It is important to understand the student's needs, the student's strengths, and the student's weaknesses. It is important to not spend time in areas that do not add value to the student's overall knowledge base of subject.
