Teaching is my first career choice. I have been fortunate enough to have been taught not only by great teachers but also my mother who was a teacher for over 30 years. Although my journey to become a teacher has been long I never gave up.
I enjoy teaching whether it be children or adults I enjoy being able to open up the doors of learning. I see myself as a motivator to young children where they can come to school and get excited about learning. I am committed to providing a first rate education to all of my students.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe each child is special and unique. My job, as an educator, is to develop their true potential. I will help children discover and express themselves to make learning a very enjoyable experience.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session, I will get to know the student and see where he or she is in their studies. I will ask them what they are having difficulty with so I can discover where they are lacking and proceed from there.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
A student who is confident in his or her studies will become an independent learner.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Motivation is very important in learning. A child has to be excited about learning, and we can do this by playing games with other students or other schools to get students ready to learn.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would offer games and visual tools so the child can see for themselves what they need help in.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Reading is very important and reading comprehension has always been tough on students. I will teach students to read and learn how to look for keywords in the story to help them understand the story and what it's about.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Establishing a good relationship with your student is very important, because if the student trusts you, they will find it easier to learn.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I will try to teach the subject as a game or let the student build a game around the subject they are struggling with so they can enjoy it and learn it easier.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I will always give a quiz at the end of each tutoring session, just to make sure that the student understands everything we went over.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I believe in praising a student when they are doing well; this helps build their confidence and keeps them motivated.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Testing them on the subject covered is a good indicator to see what needs more work.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Every student learns differently, so you have to use more than one technique to see what best fits that student.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Depending on the age, I will use flashcards or computer games.
