Certified Tutor
I have tutored students for several years, starting when I was in high school. I worked at Kumon, a tutoring center and worked with children aged 3-16. I have also worked as a private tutor and helped children in elementary school and high school. I have helped children who are struggling in school and have also helped children get ahead. I have also provided students with SAT and ACT Prep and have seen successful results.
Through my experiences tutoring, I have learned different ways of teaching my students. I can keep them engaged and teach them different study skills that help them succeed in their educational environments. I try to help my students not only with their schoolwork, but also with their study skills and time management skills. I have always found learning to be fun, and I try to make it the same for my students.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe each person learns best in a different way. I think it's important to learn how each person learns best and create a plan that will be most beneficial to them. I believe in providing different techniques to learning that will help the person learn the material.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student and ask if they have a preference to how they learn. If they are younger, I would try different ways of teaching and see which one helps the student learn better. I would use different ways to help them learn and to help them remember the material.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Instead of just teaching the material for the next test, I would teach them ways to study and manage their time. If I can make them feel comfortable with the way that they study, they would be able to do it on their own at any time.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help students stay motivated by introducing different ways of teaching, instead of doing the same thing every session. I would present the material in different ways and do different activities with the student to keep them motivated.
