My time in school has developed my philosophy of valuing each child as an individual, as well as part of a community. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. My views on learning styles have been influenced by the work of Howard Gardner. He believes that we have multiple intelligences and that every child has the potential to be gifted,but that this can present itself in many different ways.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Over the course of two decades as a teacher and mentor, my approach to student education has shifted from an emphasis on my teaching to a more central focus on student learning, and finally to a more holistic realization that the two are inseparable aspects of the same whole. I would define "teaching and learning" much as I would define "communication" as a holistic process in which there is a co-creation of meaning between student and teacher.
