Patience, knowledge, and understanding are all virtues in my book. That's why I feel I would be an ideal tutor. I have experience teaching/tutoring high school level mathematics and physics because I was a teacher at West Orange Stark High School. I have my degree in physics and a minor in mathematics from Stephen F. Austin State University. I enjoy the challenge of helping students understand subjects that may be troublesome to them and get joy watching them flourish once they grasp the concepts behind the problem. Nothing pleases me more than helping someone learn and understand.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Without patience, I won't succeed and neither will my student. Patience is needed in order to teach and tutor anyone.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would find out what areas they are struggling in and tackle that subject matter.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I would give them tools and "tricks" they could use to help understand the concept behind a problem so that they will be able to use them on future similar problems. Then I would give them practice work so that they could retain what they learned.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Helping and encouraging are equally important. I would also tell them if they are struggling with something that everyone struggles, but they can't give up. I would give them examples of my struggles as well and how I overcame them.
